Hello,
During the lighting and electrical planning, I realized that I forgot about the staircase lighting. What type of installation should I have the electrician set up so that I can later install a practical staircase lighting system? I was thinking of a few small wall lights with motion sensors. Having the electrician install the entire system now would be very expensive. It would be enough for me to have the connections in place so I can add the lighting later. Which connections should I plan for? Or would simply installing a light fixture in the ceiling above the stairs also work?

The staircase is a double quarter turn design. The straight section is about 3m (10 feet) long.

Here is my idea. It is just a quarter-turn staircase, but it might suit your situation.

An aluminum profile was embedded directly into the plaster. A Philips Hue LED strip will be installed there, controllable via Alexa.

Construction site corner with raw walls, vertical metal profile, diagonal wooden board, and window with note.

Interior construction site: steep staircase, wooden scaffolding, cables on the wall, unfinished plasterwork.

Search for illuminated handrails, meaning those with an embedded LED strip. I think it’s a great option, and we are having them custom made.

I decided against the illuminated handrail: it's too expensive.
How do you handle the motion sensor?
@Andre77, carving a "groove" into the wall is a good idea. How did you connect the motion sensor? Does it require its own power supply?

Everything runs through Alexa. At the bottom right of the profile, there is a power outlet where the power supply for the strip is plugged in and then mounted/hidden under the stairs.

The whole system can also be combined with a Philips Hue motion sensor, which is placed somewhere in the room. The Philips Hue sensor is battery-operated.
