ᐅ Recessed Ceiling Lights in the Hallway – What Brightness Level Is Recommended?

Hello everyone,
since we want recessed lights in the ceiling of the hallway, I’m currently looking into options and thought I’d ask for your opinions.
The ceiling height after lowering is 2.40m (7 ft 10 in). In the attached floor plan, the hallway is shaded in gray and wraps around the corner. The dashed line is not a wall but a beam hanging under the ceiling, which reduces the room height here to 2.25m (7 ft 4 in) and obviously cannot accommodate recessed lights. The hallway has no windows. The area marked in orange is part of the kitchen, basically a counter open to the hallway that should be illuminated as well.
How would you arrange recessed lights here overall? How many are needed? What types and light intensity would you recommend? The hallway has two light switches controlling all the lights.

Why are you worrying about this kind of stuff? Ask the electrician what the best option is and have it installed accordingly. That’s what a certified electrician is for; you are a hairdresser. Karsten

In my opinion, recessed spotlights wouldn’t be the best choice here.
That height is quite tight and could feel quite oppressive.

Well, the alternative—hanging a lamp from the ceiling and thus lowering it even more—isn’t really a solution either, is it?

There are different options. One would be Paulmann U-Rail.
If the ceiling is already quite low, I wouldn’t necessarily want to lower it even more. And a system hanging centered just below the ceiling won’t give the same feeling as a suspended ceiling.
