Hello,

I’m quite uncertain about the best way to plan the spotlights. It’s mainly about how many to use and where to place them. We are flexible regarding the light output (lumens) and beam angle of the bulbs, and they can always be changed later... I have planned and positioned 4 spotlights so far, but it doesn’t look good to me...

2D bathroom floor plan with sink, toilet, and fixtures; dimensions 175cm x 256cm (69 inches x 101 inches).

How would you plan this?

I would limit it to two spotlights: both centered along the axis of the door, evenly positioned between the front and the shower. Then add a wall or mirror light that can be switched separately. If this is planned to be bright enough, the two spotlights can (also) be omitted.

The symmetrical basic layout is fine for lighting the room. I would use frosted reflector discs over flood-type recessed ceiling lights.

Being able to see well in a mirror would also be important to me, and having quite dim lighting at the toilet area so that you don’t get woken up by bright ceiling lights at night, but can still see well enough. For this, we installed heavily dimmed recessed lights at calf height on the right and left sides of the toilet within the pre-wall construction.
