Hello everyone,

According to the zoning plan B for our property, only a hip roof or a gable roof with a pitch between 25° and 45° is allowed.
Eave height 4.70 m (15.4 ft)

We would like something more modern that stands out a bit from the usual designs.

Does something like in the photo below definitely count as a gable roof or a shed roof?

Thank you.

Best regards

My response is not intended as a definition itself, but rather as an attempt to interpret the zoning plan flexibly 😀

They have not been very willing to compromise so far.

Well, gable roofs and hip roofs are actually quite clearly defined. They must have had their reasons for not wanting shed roofs. Maybe it disrupts the appearance of the local landscape or something like that...

Well, in my experience, they (the municipality) tend to approve "split gable roofs" more easily since the original shed roof design does not appear as level aesthetically 🙂
