Hey,

Currently, it looks like in the picture. Now I would like to complete the splash protection.

A dimpled membrane will be installed vertically along the house wall, positioned in front of the membrane that is already in place. However, I don’t want to fill the entire area with the decorative stones. Instead, I am considering applying a layer of another material at the bottom—what material would be suitable for this? On top of that, I would place a geotextile fabric, and then the decorative stones. This way, the decorative stones would not be located in the invisible section.

Will this setup still allow proper water drainage, especially since there is quite a bit of concrete on the inner side?

Would someone be able to provide advice on this? Also, what color would work well for the decorative stones on top?

Thanks!

Yes, a vertical dimpled membrane will be added there.

You mean now into the sewer pipe?
Usually, the PE pipe is run up to the boundary where the ground is filled because the galvanized steel pipes (in this case the downpipe) don’t like being exposed to moisture.
But you probably won’t change that now.
At your front door, you used an orange plaster tape. You can use it to tape around the downpipe to prevent anything from falling or being washed inside. If you ever remove the downpipe (for example, for painting), you’ll have to expose it anyway. Then you can simply remove the tape again.

Yes, I meant the underground pipe. Orange tape? I had to check what you meant first. That is still original on the door threshold. So, I don’t have anything like that here. But now I know what to look for… plasterer’s tape. Would duct tape work as well? Wouldn’t it make sense to wrap the tape as high up as the underground pipe would be, especially since you say the zinc pipe doesn’t like damp conditions?

Because the two materials, gravel / stones, need to be separated, which type of geotextile should be used? Does it have to be something special due to water permeability? Just a regular weed barrier fabric, or...?

Sure, you can use duct tape, but it’s not as easy to remove afterward. The main goal is just to prevent anything from falling in or getting washed inside. You could also wrap the pipe with a drainage membrane, which might help keep the pipe from staying damp. Just for your information. I placed my downpipe inside the splash guard because I simply didn’t like it otherwise. When it eventually wears out, I’ll just replace it with a new one.

Oh yes, a dimpled membrane around it is a good tip! Thanks ...
