We received the following offer for our single-family home – is this quality sufficient, or should we pay extra for Q3? Or is it acceptable if Q2 is painted twice?

"All interior wall surfaces of the brick masonry will receive a skim coat of lime gypsum plaster. The walls in wet rooms will be finished with a lime-cement plaster. Corner protection strips will be installed on external edges and reveals. Movement joints will have movement profiles. Interior plaster surface quality Q2. The ceilings in the living areas will be fully and securely filled. Wall and ceiling surfaces will receive a two-coat opaque dispersion paint finish in white."

Hmm, strange. I didn’t have much more living space (164 m² (1766 sq ft)), but a lot more surface area to paint (600 m² (6460 sq ft)). Did you leave out a lot?
Especially the partial painter’s fleece work is incredibly cheap. What weight of fleece are you using?

We want a completely smooth finish. We will discuss the details with the painter on site. He also wants to show us how it would look if we only painted after filling, without painter’s fleece. We can decide spontaneously then. For example, we probably won’t use painter’s fleece in the utility room, just filling and painting.

Otherwise, the two bathrooms are excluded, since they will be tiled floor to ceiling. However, that is only about 13 m² (140 sq ft) in total.

Initially, we were very skeptical about painter’s fleece. We originally wanted a fine plaster finish. We also had a friend who runs a specialist company ready to do it. Unfortunately, he received a large contract and moving in would have been delayed by about three weeks, since no work could be done in the house during that time. The painter then invited us to his home and showed us the final results there, as he had recently applied painter’s fleece in his own house. We were satisfied 😎

My painter’s fleece on the ground floor is also great. Especially when you paint over it yourself, it makes the job much easier. I got the 150g (5.3 oz) thick one...

The cost of the material is probably less than the labor. The painter will also handle laying the vinyl flooring in three rooms and gluing the decorative moldings. Of course, this will be charged separately 😎

Have you really thought this through?

We now have this problem in the house we bought... tiling up to the ceiling does give it a sort of slaughterhouse feel.

Yes, we did, and for a very long time 😎 Attached are the planned bathroom designs.

Modern bathroom view with wooden vanity, round basin, illuminated mirror, bathtub, and window.

Modern bathroom: bathtub on the left, toilet in the middle, shower on the right, windowsill with plants.

Modern bathroom with round white sink on countertop, mosaic wall, and two plants.

Bright bathroom with window overlooking a forest path, toilet, washbasin, plant and decorative vases; mirror.
