If the kitchen is very small and space for cabinets is limited, you will want to use every available spot in the room. IKEA offers a toe-kick drawer for this purpose. Unfortunately, it is only available for 60 cm (24 inch) wide base cabinets and only for the plastic legs. Those who are not satisfied with this option build a custom drawer themselves.

In the picture, you can see a toe-kick drawer under an 80 cm (31.5 inch) cabinet with the short Capita legs.

Hello

So you simply extended the front to the right and left?
And what do I need to consider regarding the foundation?

Hi Steffis,

It looks like not only the front but also the back was replaced and widened, so the base is different as well. In my opinion, the Capita legs are not absolutely necessary; you can simply cut off the "Nupsies" at the top of the plinth legs and fix the feet to the base with two screws.

Maybe an IKEA expert could provide a detailed guide. Although the post is a bit older, it doesn’t matter. I would find that interesting as well.

Regards

Ah thanks, I couldn’t tell if the entire drawer is bigger or if only the front is wider.
If you don’t want to do much customizing, it should be enough to just widen the fronts, right? Before starting to add any “filler pieces” in between...

Sure, it's enough to use a wider baseboard, it doesn't matter anyway. But you should also install plastic feet under the cabinet because the plinth drawer is attached to them.

A few additional notes:
I used CAPITA legs because the Faktum legs are not available shorter than 10 cm (4 inches), and the low height was required by the window sill.
Baseboard panels can be easily attached to CAPITA legs using clips designed for 25 mm (1 inch) conduit pipes.
The front consists of a standard baseboard panel. The bottom and back panels are cut to size, with grooves milled into the bottom panel for the drawer runners.
For securing the back panel made of engineered wood, Blum provides back panel holders for the Tandembox.
The drawer runners and frames come from the clearance section; front brackets are available from customer service.
To attach the runners, I screwed two side panels underneath the cabinet and mounted the runners onto these.
