I
inforsHello.
We are currently planning our house with a ground floor and an upper floor, without a basement. In the ground floor heating room, space should be reserved for the later installation of a lightweight lift / vertical platform lift, which would then open into a room on the upper floor when needed in old age. Our architect plans to reinforce the ceiling area where the lift will go up with wooden boards. I’m curious whether the architect is correct in suggesting only a ceiling area of 1.50 x 1.50 m (5 x 5 feet) for the boards. The lightweight lift should be usable for a wheelchair user. Do you possibly have any experience with this?
Best regards
Peter

Take a look at the platform lift systems from Ascendor. One third of their main business consists of retrofitted installations and extensions in existing family homes throughout Europe.
