Hello,

I’ve been trying for a while to determine the space requirements in the utility room for a central ventilation system. Could you name some common manufacturers? That might help me move forward.

We are currently planning the sizing of the utility room in the basement.

It will need to accommodate:

- Washing machine
- Dryer
- Gas condensing boiler
- Main unit of the central residential ventilation system
- Unclear: whether a water storage tank (connected to solar) will be installed there

Additionally, I’m interested in the space needed for a modern gas condensing boiler.

Thank you in advance.

There are always regulations from the local authorities/utilities... just read through them carefully...

Since our utility room also serves as the laundry room, we deliberately planned it to be more spacious, which I now really appreciate. There is enough room comfortably, but the space couldn’t be any smaller.

The picture still lacks the base of the heating unit, which I insisted on (in case water gets in) – and the 20 cm (8 inches) clearance for the heat pump is included in this (a total depth of 80 cm (31.5 inches)).

Thank you for your responses. Our planned room is about 10 m² (108 sq ft), which sounds appropriate to me at first. Based on the information from the provider, I will take a closer look as well.

We have a large system from Vallox, which probably requires at least 8m² (estimated, not measured) - Valloflex 510SE.

You mean a mechanical ventilation unit with heat recovery (HRV) that fits everything inside, requiring at least 8m² (estimated)?
The unit itself seems to measure about 75x75x50 cm (30x30x20 inches).

No, the device with all the cables and dampers requires that much space. I'll see if I can quickly find a photo.

This is how it looks in reality. The device itself is small, that's true. Additionally, there is a box behind the device where all the ducts from three floors (these are the red flexible hoses) are collected.
The outdoor connections are also located in this room (left side in the picture) – overall, the basic unit becomes quite a ventilation monster.
Several insulated ventilation ducts connect to a white heating/ventilation box in the basement.
