Hello everyone,

we are currently planning a glass patio roof with a glass windbreak on the west side. The roof measures 4.5 m x 4 m (15 ft x 13 ft). Would you recommend a top-mounted or an under-roof awning?

Thank you for your suggestions!

No, I think the calculations are great, but I don't have a use for them and I don't drive super expensive cars. Sometimes ideas like this can help find solutions outside the box, hence the suggestion.

And then a question in the other direction – what is the most cost-effective solution? They have roughly the same dimensions. Where can you find good suppliers?

Polycarbonate sheets.

We decided to install the under-roof awning.
When I think about everything that would have ended up on the awning during the summer on the terrace roof, I shudder.
For heat protection reasons, both for the house and the terrace slabs, we kept the awning extended almost constantly throughout the summer. I don’t mind if it rains lightly in the morning or if there’s a bit of wind.
It might be different with fixed side elements.
With sliding elements, I can’t really say, as you probably keep them open continuously during the summer anyway. (Excluding conservatories)
