ᐅ Sole-water heat pump only with a decentralized ventilation system?

Good evening,
Our general contractor offers us the geothermal heat pump system with decentralized supply air and centralized exhaust air only.
Is there really no other option, or does he just want to sell it to us this way?
We actually don’t want decentralized supply air because that means having those fans in the walls everywhere, which we simply don’t like.
Thanks in advance.

Please also address the issue of humidity. Although we have a very high-quality and new system, it is a disaster (it is properly set up and all). Luckily, we are building new now, and that would be the last thing I would want again.Too dry? Installed an enthalpy exchanger?N

Fortunately, we are building new now, and that would be the last thing I would want again. This is due to physical principles and is always the case with a ventilation system. The air simply HAS to become dry – there is no alternative. No matter how high-quality the system is.
Exception as mentioned by @untergasse43.
To be honest, I hadn’t heard of an enthalpy exchanger before. My husband said that there are better options available today than when we built in 2016, maybe that’s what he meant. The dryness here is quite severe. In the mornings, you practically have to scrape your nose because the delicate mucous membranes are completely dried out. Not to mention the skin. You can also see it on the parquet flooring—there are real gaps in the floorboards. Even though we set up a powerful humidifier. I don’t trust the whole thing anymore. And no one really tells you about this, so that’s why I’m mentioning it. Does this enthalpy exchanger really solve the problem? Which brings me to the next point: people fight technology with more technology. Maintenance is already costly, and eventually things break down. You can’t save that much energy anymore.

It’s more of a luxury than an energy saver. I would never want to be without one again and am even installing one as part of my own major renovation. For that, I’m treating myself to a large, fixed, almost frameless window with an unobstructed view of the landscape. I don’t need to be able to open it anymore—and I don’t want to. Luxury problems 😉

Daniel-Sp14 Dec 2020 19:47It's not just about saving energy but also about ventilating out moisture and so on. To prevent the air from becoming too dry in winter, there are enthalpy exchangers, which basically recover moisture. However, this does not work with decentralized supply air systems and only to a limited extent with central units in winter. Still, it's better than having no enthalpy exchanger at all.
Thank you for the explanations; I’ve learned something new. Such a component was never mentioned back then, but I’m still skeptical. If it only helps to a limited extent in winter, that wouldn’t be much help for me, as I’m really affected by it. Regarding maintenance costs, these are included in the price of the heat pump, which is quite significant. We also use different types of filters, and I know that one type is currently being ordered at a relatively high cost. By the way, where is your project located, and are there any regional threads here? We are from Essen 🙂
