Hello,

I requested quotes for soil surveys from three providers.
The requirements are as follows:

- Structural safety assessment (200 kN/m²)
- Sampling of soil for later chemical analysis in order to arrange soil disposal, initially according to LAGA guidelines

Which of the three offers is the best?

1.)
An investigation of the subsoil with 2 boreholes of 5 m (16 ft) each
and 1 light dynamic probing of 5 m (16 ft).
Summary of the investigation results in a detailed report complying with HOAI requirements.
Includes effort, travel to and from the site, on-site inspections, and the report, all for a flat rate of 650 net.
Testing the infiltration capacity of the subsoil costs 75 € net.
Analysis of a mixed soil sample according to LAGA soil guidelines costs 300 € net.

2.)
Foundation report including:
- travel expenses,
- two small dynamic boreholes in soil classes 1–4 (conditionally 5) up to a maximum depth of 6.0 m (20 ft) below ground level,
- photo documentation of the plot/construction site including access conditions,
- detailed elaboration of results (report preparation).

This service costs 600.00 € net plus 16% VAT.

- Chemical analysis according to LAGA guideline, one sample collection: 255.00 € net

3.) See attachment

Angebot/Rechnung: Positionen Geotechnik, Erdarbeiten, chemische Analyse; Gesamt 1.276 €

It's quite strange... You say he is charging for the work. But apparently, he hasn't done anything yet, so there shouldn't be any invoice either. Try talking to them and tell them you don’t need xy. Then it simply won’t be done or charged.

When you call, you can also calmly say that your architect doesn’t consider it necessary. Maybe there’s a reason why it’s supposed to be done that way?

(Example: The city of XY always requires this inspection, but your architect doesn’t know about it?)

You’re right. I’ve now clarified it as well. The issue of the soil survey is currently underway. Moving forward.
