Hello
I am planning to build a house next year and am already exploring different options. What software can I use to design something like this on my PC?
Best regards

Dear members,
I’m bringing this thread back up because I’m currently facing a similar challenge.
We have already spoken with several home builders and went through many details, but hardly anyone offers free floor plan design. Most of the time we were told these are the outer walls and their dimensions, and within that we can design the floor plan as we like (the number of rooms should remain the same). Now we are trying to find out what house size can actually accommodate our floor plan requirements without making everything too small, cramped, but fitting.
For this, we would like a program that is easy to use without any special training and can support us in the planning (not a CAD program). Especially a visualization feature would be extremely helpful for my wife.
We have already tested Sweet Home 3D, but it proved to be very user-unfriendly when it comes to handling, resizing, moving walls, and similar tasks.
Google SketchUp seemed too imprecise to me for planning and visualization.
Unfortunately, Revit is not available for Mac, so I couldn’t test it.
If anyone knows of other programs, I would appreciate suggestions. They don’t have to be free; I would be willing to invest a few well-spent euros for the experience.
Otherwise, I’m simply curious about how you made your plans. Did you hire architects? Use pen and paper?
Best regards, Sascha

Mike1234567890124 Apr 2016 11:20I am extremely satisfied with HomeByMe for floor plan design. It couldn’t be easier, and the results look great even in the 3D view. I can only recommend it, and it costs nothing.
