ᐅ Snow melts faster from the roof compared to neighboring houses.

I noticed that the snow on my roof melts much faster than on my neighbors’ roofs. This surprises me because I have a low-energy house with an insulated ceiling and a double-ventilated cold roof. The neighbors have “standard” houses with knee walls and insulated roofs. Does anyone have an idea why my roof seems to lose more heat? I’m worried there might be insufficient insulation.

Hello,

That would make me suspicious and also bother me. Especially during rapid thawing, insulation defects become apparent. There are also options to detect weak points using thermal imaging. However, that can be quite costly.

Best regards

That is a good recommendation to use thermal imaging. It allows you to clearly see what is going on. It shouldn’t be too expensive and is definitely worth the investment.

I also think that the snow melt can reveal weak points in the house. There is also this infrared thermometer, which is not expensive. I got one and measure the exterior walls with it.
