seol_19849 Jan 2018 08:23Good morning everyone,
First of all, apologies if this topic seems repetitive, but I haven’t found a request like this in the forum yet. There are some individual posts on the subject, but none that address our specific project in such detail. Thank you for your help.
In our new build, we want to paint both ceilings (concrete slabs) and walls (gypsum plaster) directly. The walls will be finished by the builder at level Q2. To achieve an acceptable result after painting, the painter suggested the following steps, some of which we will carry out ourselves:
a. Apply dispersion-based filler (Megamur 606) twice in a full surface coating on the ceilings and sand afterwards. This should produce a minimum surface quality level of Q3, preferably Q4.
b. Possibly insert fiberglass mesh tape into the fresh filler to cover cracks as much as possible.
c. Apply dispersion-based filler (Megamur 606) once in a full surface coating on the walls and sand afterwards. This should produce at least Q3, preferably Q4 surface quality.
d. Prime ceilings and walls with deep-penetrating primer (seboprim Qualitäts Tiefengrund 7205 LF).
e. Paint ceilings and walls with diffusion-permeable dispersion paint.
Is this approach generally sensible? Do you have any additional tips?
Best regards,
Seol

Gypsum plaster Q2 walls were filled with putty where necessary, sanded, primed with a deep primer, and then painted white (Renovo Crystal White). The result is excellent!
Ceiling, precast concrete ceiling as well as drywall ceilings were sanded, primed, and painted white.
The only drawback on the ceiling elements that were filled is that the transition from filled to unfilled areas is slightly visible.

seol_19849 Jan 2018 18:19I have reasons to believe that our new build may have been finished with a lime-cement plaster instead of a gypsum plaster. I am currently trying to find out more about this. Do you have any simple advice for a non-expert on how I might check this myself?
Is it still possible to use the described dispersion joint compound? In the product datasheet, I only read about gypsum substrates and strongly suspect that something different needs to be used here. What about using dispersion paint as the final coat?
