ᐅ Smooth fleece on the ceiling, textured paint on the walls – which should be done first?

Hello,
We want to wallpaper our ceiling with smooth fleece wallpaper and paint the walls with a very fine brush-on plaster. We have already tested one wall as a trial, and it looks great.
Now we are unsure about the best way to proceed. I was thinking of first applying the smooth fleece wallpaper and painting it, then applying the brush-on plaster to the walls. However, the downside is that we might get the fine plaster all over the smooth ceiling.
Is masking off a sensible option? If so, what type of tape can we use that won’t peel off half of the ceiling paint when removed? Or would it be better to do it the other way around?
