I moved into my new build single-family home (KFW55 standard) in July 2016. The entire house is equipped with underfloor heating. My new build has an air-source heat pump heating system with a ventilation unit (Alpha Innotec KHZ 80) and manual room thermostats.

Does it make sense to retrofit smart systems like Controme, Tado, Alphaeos, Evohome, especially from an energy efficiency and comfort perspective? Is my heating system compatible?

Has anyone had experience with the mentioned systems?

This is a household of three people. Usually, someone is at home most of the time.

What is the potential for energy savings?
Can the installation be done by oneself?

What do you want to achieve with this? Underfloor heating is a slow-reacting system, so you cannot respond to daily changes.

Serious question: What exactly do you want to control with the heating system in a house with KFW55 insulation? Night setback doesn’t make any sense anymore—in fact, nothing really makes sense.

We moved in last year and have only experienced one heating season so far, but I only adjusted the thermostats 2-3 times during winter until the temperature was right everywhere. Since then, except for when we were on vacation, I haven’t changed anything on the heating system—not on the thermostats or the heater itself.

I don’t see the point in investing 500 euros or more now, unless you just want to experiment. In that case, I would start by collecting data with digital, networked thermo- and hygrometers in every room. Then, controlling the system might make sense as a hobby, but not for efficiency.
