Hello everyone
In a multi-family house, the electricity consumption of the heating system needs to be measured. Unfortunately, there is no smart home system installed to connect a suitable smart plug.
Current situation:
- No Wi-Fi in the heating room
- No existing HomeKit or similar system
- An iPad is available in the household
- The history of electricity consumption should be visible over one year
Can you recommend a product that makes this possible? It should continue recording during power interruptions (the heating is disconnected in the summer months).
I am imagining a smart plug with internal memory that can be read out via Bluetooth or similar.
Thank you!

Okay, no Wi-Fi obviously limits many things. But why not use a classic electricity meter/power consumption meter for the socket for about 10 (units)? It doesn’t have a usage history, but it can accumulate total consumption. If you disconnect the power and take a reading just before in the summer, then turn it back on again. In my view, this is the most cost-effective solution. Alternatively: use a repeater to the basement and, for example, a socket from MyStrom or Tuya (which has its own app, no smart home system needed).
Thank you for your feedback.
- Yes, the heating system is plugged into a power outlet. Oil heating including heat pumps.
- A standard electricity meter is already installed, but it reset when the heating was turned off. Chimney sweep, heating service, no heating period, which caused it to be inaccurate.
If there is no device with internal memory and battery, it will probably remain like this... Repeaters and constant Wi-Fi are too inconvenient for me.
