Hello everyone,

Since I am having a heat pump installed, I will probably need to update my meter cabinet to comply with §14.
Now I am considering whether I should also go for a smart meter at the same time. So I have a few questions:

If the utility company installs it for me (maximum installation cost around 20/30€), the system consists of a digital meter plus a smart meter gateway, right?
1. Can I then read the data more or less live (and also access the history afterwards), or is a paid subscription required for this?
2. Does it also allow active control of individual systems (heat pump, etc.), or is additional technology needed for that?
3. Is this easily possible with my current meter cabinet (Hager ZH22S), or will it probably need to be expanded?

Good luck

Regarding point 1: In our case, this "gateway" is simply a cellular modem. It transmits data to the network provider every 15 minutes. Depending on the provider, you can then access the data via a website—without any additional costs.

Regarding point 2: No one can say anything about that so far. Currently, it already works using certain technologies.

Regarding point 3: As far as I can see, you have a "three-point mounting" and enough space.

In detail, however, you should discuss everything again with the network provider, especially concerning section 14a, etc.
What is also important: If you receive a smart meter with a gateway, it usually requires a cellular connection. For me, it was sufficient to install the antenna inside the meter cabinet (not located in the basement). It may also be necessary to install the antenna outside the meter cabinet.
