Hello,
We are currently building a semi-detached house and will install a standard traditional doorbell.
Later, we want to replace it with a smart video doorbell.
Which smart video doorbell would you recommend? It should meet the following criteria:
No cloud storage – all data should remain within my own network.
The doorbell sound should ring as usual on the existing chime, and additionally ring on my phone and my wife's phone (it's enough if this works only when we are connected to Wi-Fi; it does not need to work when we are away).
The doorbell should continue to ring even if there is currently no Wi-Fi connection.
No monthly fees.
What is the legal situation? We probably won't be able to prevent the street from being recorded in the background. Is this a problem or illegal? The recording will only be temporary and only when someone rings the bell.

I find it unattractive, but this applies to almost all common models from various manufacturers. In addition, it only has Wi-Fi, which I consider at least not practical for a new build. You can’t even criticize it for aggressively advertising Apple/Google/Amazon integration.
I installed the Balter Evo doorbell/video system in our home. It uses a 2-wire bus technology, and the main monitor can be connected to Wi-Fi, allowing you to see who is ringing and speak with the person via mobile devices while on the go. Remote door unlocking also works, even if the door is not fully locked.
There is one monitor on the ground floor and another on the upper floor. However, cables need to be installed at the planned locations beforehand.
We are very satisfied with it. The video and audio quality meet our needs perfectly.

I think they are uglyLet’s just say this: they definitely won’t win a design award. 😀 Also, I only found a single model on their website. Hm, the selection is really quite limited. Or are the others hidden somewhere else on the site?
It is also possible to install the door station and home station independently. The main requirement is that they can communicate with each other. We have the Legrand Classe 300 X13E indoor station. The corresponding outdoor intercom or camera unit is very unattractive. We replaced it with something completely different. Our electrician selected the replacement. It is made entirely of stainless steel, giving it a much more elegant and high-quality appearance. The important thing is that the components can communicate with each other.
