Hello everyone,
we are nearing the completion of the detailed planning phase and the start of construction. I’ve already gone through the whole “I want everything until I want nothing” phase regarding smart home features. By now, I would simply like to be able to operate the roller shutters and blinds via an app.
Here are the requirements:
So far, it looks like only the Gira System 3000 with a Bluetooth module (remote control would then be difficult) is a candidate, or alternatively adding Shelly or flush-mounted actuators (e.g., Bosch, etc.).
I’ve already read and researched pretty much everything about KNX, Loxone, Hager Easy, Homematic, Somfy radio, Zigbee, Z-Wave, and similar systems. Somehow, I seem to be missing something simple or haven’t yet seen a solution that covers the above requirements.
What else is out there, or what would you recommend? Does anyone know the Gira System 3000?
Thanks very much for your experience and advice!

Here are the requirements:
- Wired switches
- Central switch for scenes
- Control via app / possibly also remotely
- Wind sensor is not necessary; I would prefer to control that remotely if needed. At work, this is handled with KNX, but it’s rather unsatisfactory (the shutters keep going up and down, etc.)
- I’m not keen on “old-fashioned” controls like small displays or astro timers

AllThumbs13 Oct 2020 15:23Do you want to have a switch at every window or only at the room entrance? I still have some time to think this over, but I will probably have the roller shutter control installed centrally in the distribution panel and then control it per room using multi-gang switches. However, it somewhat depends on what the electrician will charge for this.
I personally find this more convenient than having individual switches next to each window.

Alessandro14 Oct 2020 11:08I have also installed Somfy and am more than satisfied with it.
Through the app, I can set times for the blinds to go up and down (this was important to my wife for burglary protection haha :-P).
Additionally, you can program a scene for each Somfy switch, which I use very often.
The app loads quickly, and I use it when there is glare while watching TV.

We use the Warema Climatronic system for everything.
We have switches in the rooms for the venetian blinds; the Climatronic controls these automatically via sensors (light/wind/temperature), and we also use the app. Additionally, the Climatronic can manage some lighting controls. For example, we have the garden lighting set up through it, and it can also create scenes.
Everything works perfectly – the app runs reliably as well!

We use Somfy, I even use the app. We control the roller shutters on the upper floor as well as the venetian blinds on the ground floor with it. Additionally, a wind sensor is integrated.Do you need a "central unit" where the wind sensor is connected, or how does that work exactly?
I would also like to control venetian blinds based on light, wind, and manually, and I have a conventional electrical system. I am currently thinking about how to make the roller shutters and venetian blinds "smart."

Alessandro22 Oct 2020 09:37This works with the Somfy Conexoon or Tahoma box.
The switches for blinds, wind sensors, and sun sensors are paired wirelessly with the aforementioned gateways.
It’s all very easy and requires no wiring.
