Hello everyone,

We were briefly considering enclosing our kitchen in EL within a drywall partition.

The wall behind it will be a reinforced concrete wall, for which we now need to determine the position of the electrical outlets and so on… preferably yesterday… grr.

Can anyone possibly tell me what the minimum thickness for a drywall partition would be?

At the moment it is 50cm (20 inches), which is too large for us. We were spontaneously thinking of setting it to 20cm (8 inches).

To be honest, despite searching on Google, we are not really sure and don’t want to make a mistake.

Thank you very much in advance and have a great weekend

Do you mean the length (height), width, or depth of the drywall partition?

Uh, I mean the width... currently it’s 50cm (20 inches) wide up to where the cabinets start... we were thinking more along the lines of smaller, plus or minus 20cm (8 inches)... that’s why I’m asking about the minimum.

The minimum would be the minimum profile width, that is 30mm (1.2 inches) plus one layer of drywall (12.5mm / 0.5 inches) = 42.5mm (1.7 inches).

Thank you very much!

@kbt09

Exactly this width (minimum), in your case 8cm (3 inches), was the point :-)

Many thanks to both of you
