ᐅ Gentle Slope – Should You Build on the Slope or Add Fill?

Hello dear forum members,

we are interested in a plot of land that has a slight slope (see attached photos).

What do you think? Based solely on the pictures you see, is it possible to fill in or redistribute the soil to level the plot, or would we inevitably have to build following the slope? What approximate costs might we expect? A basement is not planned; we would like to build with a slab-on-grade foundation.

Thank you very much!

The house would then be far away from the street, right?

Yes, the installation of the utilities would become more expensive. However, I do not know what the costs per meter would be for each connection.

The front door would be about 12m (39 feet) away from the street.

Avoiding a basement is, in my opinion, not a value in itself. Therefore, I don’t think it is worth investing basement-level costs in earthworks, slope stabilization, and drainage, or even placing the house in a location where the land could be used for something more valuable. I also wouldn’t want to end up with what is essentially a football field-sized driveway paving just because a basement was avoided unnecessarily.

I will now have the architect explain exactly what would be possible here. I don’t necessarily want to avoid a basement, for example. If the basement costs 5,000 more than the excavation work, then I would of course go for the basement, especially since it can provide additional storage or living space.

Why a prefabricated house if you have an architect – is it at least a custom design? Or do you mean by architect someone from the manufacturer who just adjusts the knee wall height of a standard model for the building permit / planning permission?
