Hello,

We have recently moved into our new home and are looking for a privacy screen that also reduces echo and looks attractive for our sliding door. I have attached a photo.

Unfortunately, we only have roller blinds and no venetian blinds, so we don’t have effective privacy from the outside during the day. We think we don’t want sliding curtains, but we’re not completely sure yet. Do you have any ideas on how to create a modern look with possible privacy options that also help reduce echo in the room?

I would install a very minimalist single-track white metal curtain rail just below the ceiling. Stretch it from wall to wall and then use white, floor-length muslin curtains. Also, add a rug to reduce the echo.

Curtains, pleated blinds… according to personal taste or the needs of the room. Sound can only be reduced with a lot of fabric—and even then, it's not guaranteed to prevent echo.

Over time, adding more pictures on the walls, carpet on the floor, and wooden furniture will help diminish the echo. You’ve just moved in, after all…

Can you achieve some privacy outdoors with appropriate planting? I plan to try that on our property since I "actually" don't want any kind of curtains, blinds, or similar anymore.

Regarding soundproofing, a different solution would need to be found.

Certainly. However, we first have to wait until the neighbors start working on their garden. Otherwise, all the beds would be damaged.
(Some L-shaped stones still need to be installed by the neighbor)

You’ve practically ruled it out, but I would go for sliding curtains. You can close them or slide them to the side when you want it open. Two different types, one semi-transparent and one a bit denser, so you can adjust depending on your needs. We got ours from mhz. Alternatively, pleated blinds.
