cyrisHello dear house-building forum members,
we are currently planning our single-family home with a Frisian gable and a double garage. We have created an initial drawing of our future house and I just wanted to ask if you have any suggestions for improvements.
We appreciate any feedback :-)
I am attaching the drawing as a BMP.
Best regards
Cyris

Garage on the south side?
Why is there a hallway near the office?
Where will you store your coats? Shoes, wet jackets?
Also, you are wasting about 30 sqm (320 sq ft) on the hallway.
These are the things that would bother me the most. The room layout is not to my taste at all, and I don’t like those diagonal doors either, but that’s a matter of preference.

About 1 km (0.6 miles) as the crow flies from the garage, there is a highway. We expect the garage to provide some additional sound insulation. From midday onward, we should also have sun on our terrace (planned in front of the kitchen and living room) :-)
Upstairs, we have included the hallway, as otherwise there would be no daylight in this area. Downstairs, the hallway is not exactly small. It would certainly be possible to align the kitchen and living room wall straight with the pantry wall, without any slopes.
Why doesn’t the layout suit your taste at all? What would you change?
We want to be able to enter the house directly from the garage. That means there should be a hallway or utility room next to the garage. Also, we want the living room to be right next to the kitchen with a large door between them. The living room and kitchen should ideally face south. Additionally, we would like to sleep on the ground floor.
Attached is a drawing of the plot.
Thank you very much for your suggestions.
