Hello,
we are in the final stages of planning our single-family house, and one topic is currently occupying us: Is a niche 2m (6 ft 7 in) long with an appropriate depth of about 65cm (26 in) sufficient to serve as a wardrobe?

For how many people?

Shoes, coats, umbrellas, footstools for putting on shoes, mirrors, school backpacks, strollers, mail organizers, shopping baskets, scarves, shoes, hats... Guests also like to have some space.

Hmm... of course, it depends on your habits. I personally consider 2 meters (6.6 feet) the minimum. That's 50 cm (20 inches) per person. That doesn’t even include guest coats. And the question is whether only "seasonal items" are stored there or year-round. Shoes? Those go in there too... 2 meters (6.6 feet) can be too little.

How much space do you currently have? How many jackets are hanging there now, and how many shoes, bags, scarves, etc.?
