t.hiloHello!
We are currently planning a single-family house (planned as a two-story building with a basement).
It is very important for us to protect the privacy of the parents’ area as much as possible. In other words, we don’t want to be able to hear everything that goes on in our teenage children’s rooms later on (and vice versa, of course).
How have you planned or implemented this so far?

Well, I don’t have children. So I planned everything perfectly from the start. (Just kidding – no, unfortunately we weren’t that lucky.)
There are plenty of floor plans where the parents’ area is clearly separated from the children’s area. Of course, this always depends on the size of the house. Recently, I saw a case where the children were moved entirely to the extension – even I thought that was extreme.
How many square meters (square feet) have you planned?

It is possible to agree on "enhanced soundproofing requirements" (in writing) and then build accordingly (including selecting appropriate doors, etc.).

Best regards,
