Why did the design end up as it is?
It’s a mix of many examples from various magazines… then tailored to our needs and the required functions of each room. Considerations included whether a room should be on the ground or upper floor, orientation, adjoining rooms, and traffic flows. Bedroom next to dressing room and bathroom, facing the garden, not above the living room, because my partner often has visitors in the evenings when I want to sleep. Office with no morning sun because sunlight disturbs me when working on screens, and I usually work early in the morning. Bathroom facing the garden.

The garage is planned on the left side of the house. The street is on the south side, and the garden extends to the northeast. The terrace should wrap around the corner near the living and dining area to get evening sun, but also provide shade during the summer midday heat. It is a south-facing slope. The neighboring houses are only bungalows built into the slope, so they do not block the light.

Please share the current status again, including all floors and the site plan with a consistent orientation. Maybe use black-filled labels instead of white with black outlines, as this would improve readability.
Also missing were the roof slopes and the 2-meter (6.5 feet) height lines, because a 7.5-meter (25 feet) eaves height above street level suggests that the upper floor is an attic or loft.

In principle, I see no objection to hiring a friend as an architect – however, this should follow the same formal procedure as if the friend were an outsider. As long as the roles of friend and architect remain undefined and interchangeable, a sloped site becomes an unnecessary variable. By formal procedure, I specifically mean that friendship and professional service must be clearly separated: where friends have a relationship of mutual give-and-take on equal terms, the client and architect have a relationship defined by fixed roles of client and contractor – one commissions and pays for the service, the other delivers it. You can’t plan a house with friends during a casual break in a game night.

Can you really take an approval at a birthday party seriously if the windows on the upper floor don’t actually work? As I already mentioned, the windows on the sloped roof are skylights, and as I said, this is a slightly modified/extended design. It was about the design itself, not whether a window might be 10cm (4 inches) too far to the left. I don't even have a construction company yet.
No wine, no beer. No alcohol. Coffee and water. Architect 1, Architect 2, Architect 1’s wife, my wife, and I.
