Hello,

At the end of 2017, I bought a METOD kitchen without a dishwasher and simply installed my old Siemens under-counter dishwasher. It was installed with a raised plinth so that it fits flush under the countertop. I closed the gap at the bottom with a stainless steel panel.

As a precaution, I had ordered matching fronts for the kitchen to retrofit a fully integrated dishwasher.

Now I have purchased a new fully integrated dishwasher (model SX736X19NE, so XXL and with a Vario hinge) and face the problem that I cannot mount the three-part cabinet front on the dishwasher.

These are Ringhult fronts (20/20/40) with BLANKET handles. The fronts should be connected using VÅGLIG, which causes several issues:

1. VÅGLIG is positioned exactly where the mounting points for installation on the dishwasher door are supposed to be.
It might be possible to drill through VÅGLIG and still attach the mounting parts for hanging on the dishwasher door there.

2. VÅGLIG adds so much thickness that the opening geometry no longer works, and the front hits the bottom plinth or the dishwasher housing.

3. Since the BLANKET handles are attached from the back side of the front, VÅGLIG cannot sit flush against the back of the fronts.
(This could be resolved by cutting a piece out of each BLANKET handle.)

Are there any experiences or recommendations on the most elegant way to solve this issue?

The kitchen planning by IKEA designed and sold the three-part RINGHULT front with 3x BLANKET handles for a Diskad dishwasher. However, even with this appliance, problem number 3 would still exist, as VÅGLIG and BLANKET interfere with each other.

Well then, first a monologue:

Ikea apparently offers, in addition to VÅGLIG, also a DISKAD connecting rail (804.269.33), onto which the original Siemens brackets for the front at least fit.

The issue with the BLANKET handles remains, which I will modify after receiving the mentioned DISKAD rail by making cutouts for the connecting rail, so that the gap between the cabinet front and the dishwasher door does not become too large.

As soon as the DISKAD rail arrives, I will document the whole thing with photos.

Further monologue:

The bad news:
Unfortunately, due to further frustration, no photos of the installation process were taken. In the end, there is only one photo of the completed installation. The dishwasher is on the far left.

The good news:
The SIEMENS SX736X19NE is now installed and fitted with three RINGHULT fronts and three BLANKET handles. DISKAD provided assistance, albeit with some frustration potential.

Report:
- DISKAD fits directly onto the holes in the RINGHULT fronts.
- The mounting brackets supplied with the SX736X19NE fit into the threaded holes in DISKAD.
- However, the holes in DISKAD are off by about 4-6 mm (0.16-0.24 inches), so I had to modify the holes in the DISKAD rail into elongated slots. Otherwise, the mounting brackets would not fit into the intended slots on the dishwasher door.
- The upper mounting point on DISKAD for the upper sliding pieces fits correctly in height.
- The lower mounting point on DISKAD for the mounting brackets, which hook into the Vario hinge, is installed about 30 mm (1.18 inches) too high.
The latter could only be resolved by drilling new holes in DISKAD using the template supplied with the SX736X19NE. Threading is not possible in the DISKAD there, because the holes run through two beads. Special screws are required at this position that reach through DISKAD into the RINGHULT front. If the screws strip out, this can possibly be improved with special anchors.
- Where DISKAD crosses the BLANKET handles, a recess has to be cut out of BLANKET, which is not visible from the outside.

To complete the information, here is an additional note:

As already anticipated in post #3, the screws for the lower mounting brackets (U-hooks), which pass through the DISKAD rail into the cabinet front, have pulled out of the wood . This was more or less expected since the screws were quite short and had a small diameter.

After disassembly, I drilled the damaged screw holes in the cabinet front out to 8mm (0.3 inches) and inserted so-called [B]RAMPA sleeves Type B
. This allowed me to reuse the original fine-thread screws supplied with the SIEMENS unit.

Since then, the connection has held completely secure.
