We are considering installing folding shutters. Has anyone installed them made of wood or aluminum, and what type of mechanism did you use (electric or manual)? Also, how much more expensive is the whole setup compared to a manually operated roller shutter? Thanks for any information!

Thank you for the reply! Our scope of work includes roller shutters with a strap system. We are removing them completely... do you think the cost difference will still be that high?

I don’t know who you plan to build with.

If it’s a low-cost provider, the answer is clearly no; if it’s a reputable builder, it “might” work out with a small additional cost.

It was just a matter of estimation. Since we are building with a family-run business from our area, the reputation is naturally well known here... not some cheap amateur, no.

Ok. – if it is a smaller company building a maximum of 10 single-family homes per year, I think the costs will be roughly the same (but don’t hold me to that if I’m wrong). Smaller companies don’t usually get the purchasing discounts that large buyers receive.

So... The additional cost is 12,300 euros extra for aluminum folding shutters compared to roller blinds. A pity.

For how many shutters?
