Hello.
I had originally planned to install electrical outlets in the bathrooms at a height of 30cm (12 inches) above the finished floor, vertically aligned with the light switches. Our electrician mentioned in conversation that this should be done in all rooms, but not in the bathrooms. Since the shower is far away, I find this surprising. Is it really common not to do this in bathrooms? Is there a reason for it? Our electrician couldn’t provide any reasons...

The outlet you mentioned is planned to be installed in various rooms as a vacuum cleaner outlet. For safety reasons and because vacuuming is typically not done in the bathroom, it is omitted there.

We have a standard electrical outlet in the bathroom about 30cm (12 inches) above the floor, just like in the other rooms, so why not? We also vacuum the bathroom, and I don’t see any difference compared to other rooms.

My electrician wanted to install the power outlets directly below the light switch, saying "so the housewife doesn’t have to bend down." Well, cordless vacuum cleaners are becoming more popular, but I still find this floor outlet useful for the kids, in case they want to connect a CD player or something else.

Regarding the bathroom:
I deliberately left out the floor outlet there because it disrupts the look of the tile design. A vacuum cleaner can be plugged into one of the other outlets, for example in the hallway or another room.

I also have an electrical outlet in the bathroom at the standard lower height. However, it is not in use...

At first, we also debated whether to install all the electrical outlets at 30cm (12 inches) height or not. For example, on the upper floor, we only had outlets installed below the light switches (at 30cm / 12 inches) in the children's rooms and hallway. That turned out to be the right decision. We only need to unplug the vacuum cleaner or vacuum mop once. It would work without this setup as well. Ultimately, it depends on the size of the floor and the length of the vacuum cleaner cord. But who wants to unplug the vacuum cleaner every time if it's not necessary?!

Currently, the "big" vacuum cleaner is not used very often anyway, as we usually rely on the cordless vacuum in everyday life.

It’s similar on the ground floor. Only the centrally located outlet in the hallway is used there.
