Hello,

I recently moved and wanted to hang my Lack wall shelf in my home office – unfortunately, it’s too long. I also have a nearly identical Persby shelf – but it’s too short. A few years ago, I tried cutting a similar shelf from Otto, but it was glued in a strange way and everything fell apart. Could the same happen with the Lack shelf? Is there anything I should be aware of?

I don’t want to shorten it so much that it causes issues with mounting. Also, an uneven edge wouldn’t be a problem since it would face the wall anyway.

The paint shelf is mostly made up of air, meaning it is almost completely hollow inside. Therefore, shortening it is really not recommended.

The question is whether the part will collapse or could be damaged on the sides during cutting.

It will especially swell like a yeast dumpling if it gets even slightly damp, and cutting it will not do any good for its stability, no.

It is simply better to have a shelf board cut to size rather than cutting off the finish, because otherwise you won’t enjoy it for long.
