Hello everyone,

Does anyone have experience with suitable cladding for the wooden beams supporting our terrace? Would you recommend metal or wood? Is there anything specific I should consider when cladding?

Thank you very much and best regards, morey

I would install a vapor barrier there first, followed by an HC Plan strip.

I would install a membrane for that and then a HC Plan strip.

Hello Caspar,

Does the membrane still allow the wood to breathe? Would you fix the HC Plan strip all around the balcony?
How should I attach the membrane and the HC Plan strip? 🙂

Thanks and best regards

So, I installed Deltamax foil as a protective layer, or you can apply a bituminous roofing felt strip, for example R500. I used it all around the house.

Nail the foil or the felt strip with roofing nails, and drill the HC plan strips with a 6mm (1/4 inch) iron drill bit in advance. Then attach the strips using facade screws. Alternatively, you can do it as shown in the last picture.
