Hello experts,

I have built a shed with 24 sand-lime brick walls.
The flat roof has 26cm (10 inches) beams and is covered with a 16mm (0.6 inch) sheathing, topped with a waterproof membrane and roofing felt.
Now my question:
I would like to cover the ceiling from the inside with OSB boards.
I have 20cm (8 inches) thick insulation (fiberglass batt) available, but my beams are 26cm (10 inches) thick. Do I need to fill the remaining 6cm (2.4 inches) gap with additional insulation, or can I place the 20cm (8 inches) insulation directly on top of the OSB boards? I am concerned that condensation might form in the gap.
There is nothing installed on or above the roof beyond what I described, and the shed will be used occasionally, maybe heated during winter for gatherings.
I’m attaching a drawing.

If it’s a shed similar to a garden house and you only want to have a party in it occasionally during the winter, I would simply skip the effort of adding insulation.
With a gas heater, the shed will warm up quickly even without insulation, and for the few hours during the party, the energy consumption is basically negligible.
Even with insulation, you probably wouldn’t notice much improvement, since you would also need to insulate the walls.
Edit: Somehow I missed that the walls are made of calcium silicate blocks. But even so, I still think insulating the roof isn’t worth the effort.
So my advice: leave it as it is, and when you have a party, just buy a gas canister and heater or use an old workshop stove. That will easily be enough.

When using them indoors, you should of course know what you are doing. So please make sure to pay attention to exhaust air and fresh air supply when burning.

I have the same construction, but with 24cm (9.5 inches) aerated concrete blocks for my garage. However, I only installed 16cm (6.3 inches) or 18cm (7 inches) Isover insulation wool. There shouldn’t really be any issues. You might want to look up ventilated flat roofs... I haven’t given this much thought myself. But I would definitely insulate... even in summer, I find the insulation useful when it’s extremely hot outside.
