In our single-family home, a wastewater pipe from the bathroom above (shower room with WC) is planned to run through the living area, enclosed with 11cm (4.3 inches) bricks. My question is whether this will be noticeably noisy. Until now, I have lived in the attic and am not familiar with this. If noise is an issue, are there soundproofing options? We do not want to change the floor plan.
Thank you for your answers.

Thanks for your answers. The question would be whether you could soundproof this by enclosing it with Silentboard drywall panels from Knauf or similar products. The sound insulation values are quite good when used as a drywall partition.

The sound insulation ratings are at least quite good for a drywall partition. There are also "sound-optimized" wastewater pipes available, for example from Geberit. Maybe you can get a bit more noise reduction that way.
But it will probably be as @Tego12 says – it likely won’t be completely silent.

Thanks for your answers.Assuming proper insulation behind the brickwork, there should be almost no noise. I had a similar situation behind drywall once – it was only noticeable when the room was completely silent.Similar topics
