Hello everyone,
In our new apartment, there is a network socket in every room, and I would like to set up a Wi-Fi network using them. The connection should still be through Unitymedia, so via the cable connection. Currently, all the network cables come together in the distribution cabinet.
Now the question is, what do I need to connect my Unitymedia modem and distribute the signal accordingly? I am attaching a photo of the cabinet.
Good luck and thanks for the help.

Something along these linesThe amplifier is located in the main distribution panel. So far, I have always gotten the signal from my regular TV outlet. I will try to contact a Unitymedia technician. First of all, thank you very much for your help.

There can definitely be some misunderstandings. Are you talking about the TV signal or the internet connection? Both actually come from the same hardware anyway.K
knalltüte5 Mar 2020 14:13Hi, this is how it looks on my end. The end of the antenna cable is connected to the FritzBox Cable or the Connect Box from Unitymedia. The cable signal (for TV, etc.) is distributed separately via a “MultiSat switch” towards the antenna sockets in the rooms. However, I think it’s going to be tight inside the cabinet.

What I still don’t understand is the phrase "set up a Wi-Fi network in every room."
Basically, the cable from the street enters your building at the main connection point. There you have the amplifier and splitter as shown above. From that distributor, a cable runs to each designated room (or possibly multiple cables per room, depending on the planning).
For Internet access, you definitely still need a cable modem. Either the Vodafone box from Unitymedia (now Vodafone) or your own/rented Fritz!Box Cable (e.g., 6951).
There are two installation options for you:
1) Centralized in the technical room (or your cabinet)
This means you connect your cable modem directly after the distributor and then patch the network cables to the different rooms via a patch panel. However, there might not be enough space total in the distribution cabinet for this.
2) In one room
You will have several rooms with a TV outlet; theoretically, you can connect the cable modem there. But then distributing the network to other rooms via cable becomes either impossible or very complicated, leaving only Wi-Fi distribution.
How many rooms and square meters (sqm) are you planning to cover with Wi-Fi?
