Hello everyone,
I am currently looking into the topic of lighting. I’m not able to create a proper lighting plan myself; the electrician does it, but they focus more on practical aspects.
I believe that good lighting design greatly enhances living quality, while poor lighting can really spoil it.
Does anyone here have experience with a professional lighting designer? Or does anyone know of an online service?
My first inquiry at a large lighting specialty store resulted in a price of €9 per square meter (approx. $9.70 per square meter).
Best regards from Franconia!

I am convinced that good lighting design greatly enhances living quality, while poor lighting can ruin it. Most often, it is the quantity that causes the problems. A typical single-family home is equipped with lighting effects like those in a retail showroom. See the parallel thread: "Lighting design..."

@Nordlys recently gave this advice here: go to a specialty store you trust and buy the lamps there. They are usually happy to take over the planning as well. I don’t know anyone who had a “specialty store they trust” for lighting before they bought or built a house. And even if you know a good lighting salesperson, that doesn’t automatically make them a good planner. A great bricklayer isn’t automatically a top architect either (even if the comparison isn’t perfect).

We’re no longer 20, so we tend to know what’s available locally.
I know a specialized electrical store in our town (I’ve only bought a lamp once in my life, yeah 😉 ), and in the next larger city I know a few more, @Nordlys from the village also knows one... and maybe the original poster knows one too.
P.S. I just noticed: the thread is a bit older, I hadn’t realized that 🙁
But it’s not necessary. We planned the lighting inside and around our house with our house and Hofeli, and found good and affordable lamps and spotlights. Of course, it is somewhat more expensive than buying everything from Ikea, but still far less than from a specialist lighting store. He installed everything and stands behind his work. Cheers to the German electrical craftsmanship, smile.

Hats off to German electrical craftsmanship, smile. You were lucky with your electrician that he has the eye for it and the necessary expertise. Especially the calculation of luminous flux in individual rooms and an even lighting distribution throughout the rooms is important to me.
