ᐅ Is a Separate Meter and Electricity Tariff for an Air-to-Water Heat Pump Beneficial?

Hello everyone,

We have an air-to-water heat pump in our newly built house and are considering whether it makes sense to install a separate meter for it and to get a separate tariff. Do you have any experience with this? Is it worthwhile?

The key factor for a modulating heat pump is the minimum capacity.
An 8 kW unit can still have a low enough minimum capacity.
1.8 kW minimum. Still, it’s cheeky to install the significantly more expensive 8 kW version, which a) isn’t necessary and b) is basically the same as the 6 kW version except for a chip tuning.

Large heat pump and balancing the installation. Running…

🙂 😀

Underfloor heating: red pipe laid in a spiral pattern in a concrete slab, construction site.

But installed very, very precisely...

Help. What is this supposed to be? Can this still be considered underfloor heating? 😳

Large installation spacing is compensated by higher supply temperatures. However, this does not require a higher heating capacity of the heat pump. Higher capacity is only needed for greater heat demand of the building. If the heat pump is oversized, the system tends to short-cycle, which affects its durability. Also, the investment costs increase, and in the case of a ground-source heat pump, the heat exchanger becomes unnecessarily more expensive.

That's 20cm (8 inches), right?
It can exist. With gas and 45°C (113°F) supply temperature, it's certainly possible.

With a layout like that, I would have saved 1,000 m (3,280 ft) of piping and a lot of labor time. You should have posted it earlier 😉
