marion00714 Nov 2022 14:38Hello,
we are planning a precast concrete garage measuring 6m x 9m (20 feet x 30 feet).
We are currently undecided whether to leave the interior of the garage open to create one large space or to partition off a 3m (10 feet) section at the back as a storage room with access, effectively creating a 6m x 6m (20 feet x 20 feet) garage plus a 6m x 3m (20 feet x 10 feet) storage area.
The garage will need to accommodate two cars, four bicycles, trash bins, car tires, a lawnmower, a small workshop, and various other small items.
The advantage of a separate storage room is that tools and equipment would not be visible every time the garage door opens. On the other hand, having one large open space offers greater flexibility, for example for hosting parties.
What are your thoughts?

Having one large room argues against dividing it, as it can be used more flexibly, for example for parties.I actually think that’s more a reason to divide it, since all the stuff that usually ends up in the front part of the garage can simply be moved to the adjoining room (except for the cars, of course), so party guests don’t have to look at it all evening. Also, you gain two extra walls that provide more options for hanging things or similar uses.
We will soon receive a precast concrete garage measuring 6 meters (20 feet) in length, with an attached extension of 4 meters (13 feet). There is a gap between them serving as a passage. We thought having it separated like this looked neater. The 4-meter (13 feet) rear extension also features a small window and a door leading to the garden.

Do it once with walls and once without. Which is better also depends heavily on your usage; “a small workshop” can mean very different things to different people. Are the dimensions given for the interior or the exterior?

henning18114 Nov 2022 20:24Hello,
We also have a garage measuring 6x9 meters (20x30 feet) that is not separated. It’s a matter of personal preference, and I feel I can use the space better this way. You can always separate it later.
Regards
