Hello everyone,
During the planning of a new kitchen, we have completed all the essential steps. By far, the most challenging issue seems to be the selection and installation of the dishwasher. I apologize for opening a new thread on a topic that has already been discussed extensively. However, I am still confused, and to be fair, even in retail stores, my seemingly simple question could not be answered...

What I understood is that an XXL dishwasher with a working height of 87.5cm (34.5 inches) fits best with Metod. That is not a problem. My wife and I would prefer to use a partially integrated dishwasher rather than a fully integrated one. What I absolutely do not understand (and as mentioned, I really tried) is why it should not be possible to simply mount an IKEA front on it? Can’t you just use a regular Metod front, trim it at the bottom (cut flush), apply the plinth at the bottom, and be done? Even when inspecting suitable models in stores, I did not understand why that shouldn’t work...

I am grateful for any clarifying answers.

Apparently, you want to avoid reading the already very long dishwasher front thread.

So here is a shortened answer: most kitchen manufacturers have a baseboard height of 13–17 cm (5–7 inches), while IKEA has a baseboard height of 8 cm (3 inches), so the appliances do not fit. According to their installation drawings, most manufacturers allow for fronts with a maximum height of 65 to 75 cm (26 to 30 inches). IKEA fronts are 80 cm (31 inches) high and therefore extend downward. When you open the dishwasher, the door front, which extends further down by this length, hits the kitchen baseboard or the appliance base, preventing the dishwasher from opening fully.

Therefore, it is not enough to just take an XXL appliance with an adjustable hinge, although it is quite likely that you can install them. Which models are truly plug-and-play compatible with IKEA kitchens is detailed in another well-maintained and actively managed thread by the user IKEA-Experte. You will find suitable options from Bosch, Siemens, Neff, and Miele, with minor adjustments needed for AEG models.

"Cutting off" is not the same as "fitting". ;P

Thanks for the replies.
No, I don’t want to skip reading the above-mentioned thread. I have read large parts of it but didn’t find the answer to my question in the initial post. So once again:
To install a part-integrated Bosch XXL dishwasher: Is it enough to cut an 80 cm (31.5 inches) front panel with a saw? Or are there other things to consider?

Thanks again for any help.

For a semi-integrated dishwasher, you need ERSÄTTARE

What advantages do you expect from semi-integrated appliances? There are fully integrated dishwashers that use a laser projector on the floor to indicate when the cycle has finished. The semi-integrated category significantly limits your choice of appliances. Are you looking for a dishwasher with a width of 60cm (24 inches) or 45cm (18 inches)? There are also models that project the remaining time onto the floor in the toe-kick area.

For me, it would be much more important to choose an XL model rather than a dishwasher that is only 81cm (32 inches) high, since you can load tall pots both in the upper and lower baskets while the spray arms remain movable. Others may prioritize a quick wash cycle or a cutlery drawer. I believe these are all more important criteria than whether the dishwasher is semi- or fully integrated.
