Is that it? Are you not going to join the conversation at all? What about the suggestions?

We don’t often agree, but here... total agreement. Why even have this thread? Many people could have saved themselves a lot of time.

Then your requirements must have been different from what was stated earlier in the thread, for example that you want to turn a semi-detached house into a mid-terrace house (having windows on only one side feels far less open than from at least two sides, ...) and that you want to be aware of every little detail at all times (and your children, too). Lying on the couch in boxers... well, the friends of the teenage kids will probably enjoy the view.

You misunderstood me. In the meantime, I want to thank everyone here for the comments. I printed out the entire conversation and discussed it with my wife. She also thinks that the door next to the couch feels very uncomfortable. Personally, I’m still bothered by the kitchen being in the entrance area. Regarding the terraced house, of course, that also bothers me, but the utility room on the ground floor would ruin the current plan as well. In my opinion, the staircase would have to be relocated.

We also thought about using the ground floor room only for technical installations and as a storage room for garden equipment, etc., and turning the dressing room upstairs into the utility room. The dressing room would then be where the large bedroom is now, and the children’s bathroom would become the main bathroom. The wall would then be moved to the left. This way, we wouldn’t have the problem of carrying laundry down anymore, since a laundry chute is currently not an option.

You have received several detailed proposals – I understand that a qualified review takes time. However, regarding my suspicion (that you were not the original clients for the planning, but are now just remodeling something designed for an unknown buyer), one could surely respond more quickly (?)

Furthermore – and this is by no means limited to this thread – I find it surprising that discussions are repeatedly said to take an “offline” private loop among the couple involved, before the active partner in this forum returns to the keyboard. To me, this seems like an anachronism from the time when computers were large boxes in home offices, used only by the husband, while the wife avoided the area like the plague. Yet, all recent internet usage studies show that the vast majority of users now rely on laptops and tablets – devices that can be easily passed to a partner sitting right next to you on the sofa. Could someone explain this curious phenomenon to me?
