Hello everyone,

In the new construction, only aluminum window sills (14 pieces) are included in the fixed price (for 680€), and the additional cost for marble window sills (brand: Nero Impala) is 2700€, while the material cost alone is about 1000€.

A friend of mine, who built his own house some time ago, installed the window sills himself, unfortunately with a normal plaster facade. So the question now is how the approach should differ when using external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) with brick cladding?

Another question is whether we should go with marble as offered or rather choose granite? I am personally leaning toward granite, but I cannot really explain why. What do you think?

Never ever install exterior window sills yourself! Window sills are essential for the weatherproofing of the facade, and proper installation often fails even for “professionals.” Doing it yourself would likely mean losing the guarantee for the house’s rainproofing. The risk is not worth it to me.

Well, I guess it’s better if I mess it up than a contractor 🙂

At least then I won’t have to get upset later if the warranty obligations are ignored.

You could look at it that way... 🙄

ETICS with facing brick

How is that supposed to work? External thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) aren’t used with brick veneer walls, are they? Or do you have brick slips? In that case, the process should be similar to that used with render.
