Hello everyone,
We are currently in the process of selecting kitchen appliances (140cm (55 inches) refrigerator with freezer compartment; 60cm (24 inches) fully integrated dishwasher; induction cooktop).
My kitchen specialist recommended Miele. He said that in terms of price, Miele, Siemens, and Bosch are similar in the higher price range for comparable products. I had always thought that Miele was more expensive...
Is it true that these brands don’t differ much in price when offering similar features?
How did you choose your appliances, and where can you find reliable comparison tests?
Best regards

In fact, appliances in the higher price range are quite close to each other in terms of quality.
With Miele appliances, you can hardly go wrong. However, before purchasing, you should ask yourself what your personal requirements for the appliances are.
Cooktop, for example:
- Will it be used daily?
- For how many people?
- Do I often use large pots or pans?
- How should the cooking zones be controlled?
Oven:
- Do I bake a lot?
- Do I like to steam food?
- Is roasting in the oven common?
- Which functions or programs should it have?
Dishwasher:
- For how many place settings?
- Is a cutlery tray important?
- How many programs and which ones matter to me?
Refrigeration units:
- Do I want various freshness zones, and if so, which ones?
- Is a freezer compartment mandatory, or can refrigeration and freezing be separate?
This list can be extended indefinitely.
Online, you will find a wealth of information, and with some manufacturers, you can even configure appliances according to your preferences. With this knowledge, visit a kitchen specialist and request offers from different manufacturers. Approaching this with clear requirements can be financially worthwhile. In other words, don’t let yourself be pushed into buying things you don’t need.
Best regards,
Sigi

There are cheap and expensive options from all brands... Siemens cooktops range from €200 to €1000.
Generally, Miele tends to be more expensive than other brands—if not at the recommended retail price, then often at the offered price. We had the impression that Miele offers fewer discounts compared to, for example, Neff, Siemens, or Bosch.
Tell your kitchen supplier to give you specific model names so you can compare and research them. We found that online prices were usually somewhat lower than those at the kitchen showroom—but not by much when you factor in delivery costs.
For our range hood, the online price actually felt higher than at the kitchen showroom.
Comparison tests are difficult because usually only certain models are objectively reviewed. On test portals like XY, it’s hard to be sure if all tests are genuine. Amazon is a good place to start, and sometimes also Chefkoch. When in doubt, you just have to read around, evaluate specific brands, and hope that you ultimately pay more or less only for certain features (e.g., soft-close hinges, frost-free technology, telescopic extension, pyrolysis self-cleaning, Hide&Slide).
At the end of the day, a reliable consultant at the kitchen showroom is also helpful.

Basically, you should ask for offers and get the individual prices or at least the total price for the appliances, then compare them online. There has already been an interesting surprise with that.
Manufacturers often promote clearance sales or special offers.

The BSH Group, now Hausgeräte GmbH, is managed by Bosch. The main brands are Bosch and Siemens. BSH also distributes appliances from Gaggenau, Neff, and Constructa, among others.
It can also be worth considering built-in appliances from different manufacturers. If your showroom features various brands, don’t hesitate to touch and try them out.

We noticed that appliances with a suggested retail price of, for example, 2000 € are discounted differently. This means that the 2000 € Miele appliance was available for 1800 €, while the BSH one was priced at 1000 €. This difference is also clearly visible when looking at online prices.
It might be helpful to mentally separate yourself from suggested retail prices.
In our case, it ended up being completely different manufacturers for different appliances. However, one manufacturer’s product could not deliver the performance of the other, so we ended up mixing brands.
