I have a quick question,

Does anyone have experience with these kinds of systems or has already used one? I have been considering getting a digital key system with Bluetooth for a while now. A friend of mine already has one and is very satisfied with it (from the company Sorex, as far as I know).

Now my question is, what does 128-bit encryption mean? And how secure are these systems?

Looking forward to your answers, thank you!

Best regards, Beni

😕 Are you referring to a qualified digital signature?

128-bit is long outdated; I currently encrypt my security-relevant servers with 2048-bit.

@parcus,

no, no, I meant digital cylinder locks for the house with a so-called wireless key system, which should work via Bluetooth. From what I have read online, this system is quite secure with this type of encryption.

Are you familiar with this topic as well?

I also hope to receive other responses or opinions to gather some experience.

Thank you...

For low encryption, the length of the PIN is important. It should always be longer than 4 alphanumeric characters or 8 numeric digits.

It’s best to read the article in the wiki about Bluetooth – Wikipedia, focusing on the topic of eavesdropping security.

The version also matters. Secure pairing should only be possible starting with the current v2.1 (v3.0 is still under development).

However, I would suggest asking this in a computer science forum.

Thank you for the response...

I think I’m in the wrong forum here since this is a computer science forum, but I will try the link anyway. Thanks again!

With such systems, always make sure that a motorized lock is installed on the door; otherwise, the insurance coverage will be void, as I have just learned!!!
