Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install IKEA Metod kitchen countertops in my new apartment. The problem is that the floors are far from level – partly slightly sloped or uneven, which makes securing the countertops more challenging.
My main question is: How can I securely and permanently attach the IKEA Metod countertops when the subfloor is uneven? Are there any specific techniques, tools, or fastening methods that have proven effective to ensure the countertops sit stable without wobbling or being damaged?
I look forward to your tips and solutions, including practical examples!

Here is a brief guide on how I securely installed the Metod countertops on uneven floors for a long-lasting fit:
1. Check and measure the subfloor. Mark the highest and lowest points.
2. Install adjustable legs on the Metod base cabinets if they are not already fitted.
3. Use a long spirit level or laser level to adjust the legs until the frames are completely level.
4. Compensate for larger unevenness between the floor and cabinet legs with wooden shims or small spacer plates. Fix these in place with wood glue to prevent slipping.
5. Once the base cabinets are set, place the countertop on top. Use the IKEA clamps for fastening.
6. Use rubber pads or sealing tape between the countertop and cabinets to prevent stress from temperature changes.
7. Check everything again with a spirit level. Done!
Important: Work slowly and carefully to avoid putting stress on the countertop. If the floor unevenness is too extreme, leveling the floor with cement or a similar compound is the long-term solution.

As an addition: IKEA Metod countertops are not designed for uneven surfaces.

Any installation of the countertop on an uneven base will cause stress and may lead to damage.
Good morning, I would like to add that when fixing Metod countertops on uneven floors, the goal should always be for the countertop to rest fully and evenly. Adjustable cabinet feet are therefore the most important factor in ensuring a level installation. If there are larger gaps between the base cabinet and the floor, these should be compensated with sturdy shims.
Another way to increase stability is to use additional brackets to fasten the countertop underneath and to the cabinet frame. Additionally, third-party clamps can be used to provide better support. Overall, I recommend taking the time to carefully check twice rather than facing problems later with loose or damaged countertops.
