Hello everyone, I recently bought an IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet and want to install doors with integrated handles. My specific challenge is to attach the doors so that they are both stable and do not cause any unpleasant noise when opening and closing. Although there are many tips online for general installation, there is very little information on mounting handle-door fronts quietly. I am especially interested in possible adjustment tricks, potential damping materials, or recommendations for screws or fasteners that increase stability without causing rattling. Does anyone have practical experience or proven solutions on how to properly and noiselessly install IKEA Metod cabinet doors with integrated handles? Thanks in advance for your tips!

The easiest solution is to properly tighten the original fittings and use rubber buffers on the inside of the doors. The dampers effectively reduce noise. Also, make sure the doors are correctly adjusted to prevent them from sticking.

I can recommend a simple step-by-step guide that works well with Metod doors:

- Align the door properly and carefully secure the hinges
- Tighten the original screws gently; overtightening can deform the material
- Attach rubber buffers or edge protectors at the joint areas to reduce rattling
- For recessed handles, you can apply soft felt strips or foam rubber inside as cushioning
- Finally, treat the hinges with some silicone spray to minimize noise

A precise adjustment is crucial. By the way, use fine-thread screws, as they improve stability.

Use original fittings and avoid overtightening. Rubber buffers can help. Recessed handle doors often require felt tape on the inside edge.

For a stable and noise-free installation of IKEA Metod cabinet doors with recessed handles, I recommend the following procedure:

1. Use only the fittings provided by IKEA, as these are specifically designed to match the door and cabinet materials.

2. Employ precise adjustment steps when setting the hinges to align the door accurately. Incorrectly adjusted doors can cause vibrations and consequently annoying noises.

3. Use rubber buffers or special edge protection profiles made from softer materials at the contact points between the doors and the cabinet. This significantly reduces impact noise.

4. For recessed handles, it is effective to attach thin foam rubber strips or self-adhesive felt tape on the inside edge of the handle recess. These act as cushions during door movement.

5. Finally, applying a noise-dampening lubricant to the hinges, such as a silicone spray, is recommended. This not only improves smooth operation but also minimizes rattling.

6. Screws should be tightened with controlled torque—not too loose to keep the door stable, but not too tight to avoid damaging the material.

This approach ensures durable and quiet operation of Metod doors with recessed handles.

This really worked well for me! I attached thin rubber strips at the points where the door touches the cabinet. Result: No more annoying slamming when closing and no loss of ease when opening. A simple trick with a big effect.
