Hello,
we are currently planning our kitchen, and most things are more or less decided. However, we are still discussing one topic in more detail, which is the seating arrangement directly at the kitchen island.
Our layout: a kitchen run along the wall, a kitchen island, and then the dining table (all in one room of about 40 m2 (430 sq ft)). I’m interested to know if anyone else has this layout and if you included seating (bar stools/counter seating) at the kitchen island, and what your experiences have been. Would you do it the same way again, or would you skip it next time due to low usage? We suspect it might not be necessary since the dining table is right there anyway, and somehow a straight kitchen island just looks better...
Best regards

I’m a fan of this counter solution with stools myself. You don’t always have to see it as a dining area. What about when you’re cooking with guests or having a coffee while preparing something in the kitchen? I find it indispensable in the era of the open-plan kitchen. I see the counter more as a communication bridge rather than a place to eat. But that’s just my opinion.
Best regards

I think these countertops are fine, but I feel they change the appearance of a kitchen island. For me, the look was important: I like the open, wide surface of the countertop. That’s why we decided on a bar-height table, which can also be separated if needed.
And it’s just how it should be: the latest guests gather standing around this small table.

It looks really good. I especially like the extractor hood. Thanks, we also like it a lot. We only chose the hood because it was available at a very low price. I wouldn’t have paid the regular price for it.
