Bender_46891 Dec 2011 16:16Hello,
I want to fully furnish my living room using Besta and Framsta. Since I’m not a natural interior designer and am not very familiar with the combination options of these two systems, I would appreciate getting ideas from this forum in the form of pictures or links.
I plan to design a wall area 3.60m wide (11 ft 10 in) and up to 2.20m high (7 ft 3 in) focusing on storage and display, without a TV and with few open shelves, as well as another wall area 1.80m wide (5 ft 11 in) and up to 2.20m high (7 ft 3 in) focusing on storage and a workspace for a notebook, printer, also without a TV and with few open shelves. The official Ikea catalogs mostly show TV setups, so they aren’t very helpful.
It would be great if someone here has designed their living room with similar requirements and could share their ideas so I can get some inspiration!
Best regards
Bender

IKEA-Experte1 Dec 2011 19:47Hello,
since Besta Framsta is designed as media furniture, it is most often seen with a TV. However, you can also consider it as part of a combination with a TV and then vary it. For example, I like

What doesn’t match what you want, however, is a setup with a TV and open shelving.
What else is in the room? Do you prefer clean, calm structures or asymmetrical arrangements? More monochrome or various tones? Illuminated elements? Have you tried searching for Ikea Besta on video.google yet?
These are just some thoughts that came to mind.

Bender_46892 Dec 2011 12:48Hello,
thank you very much for your reply. I was already familiar with the option shown in the video and find it really appealing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit my requirements at all. The TV must stand separately on a Besta Burs TV unit due to connection reasons and cannot be arranged differently. Apart from the options mentioned, I want (or rather have to) “hide” my home office within the living room, so to speak—a practical but nicely integrated solution.
My biggest concern is the 3.60 m (12 ft) wide wall; it’s quite challenging to design it without including the TV section without making it look too much like an office or offering too little storage space.
In terms of color, I am leaning towards high-gloss white, but I am open to any suggestions.
Looking forward to more ideas.
Best regards,
Bender

IKEA-Experte2 Dec 2011 13:46The antenna connection was never located where I wanted to place the TV and the receiver. I always routed the cable to where I needed it. It either ran behind the baseboard or in a 1cm (0.4 inch) wide cable duct along the ceiling.

IKEA-Experte2 Dec 2011 14:13A variation of the combination from the video could be something like this:
Two 49 cm (19 inches) deep shelving benches stacked one on top of the other, with drawers. On one side, place four 64 cm (25 inches) high cabinets above them. On the approximately 3-meter (10 feet) wide area next to it, you could hang four or five cabinets (38 cm / 15 inches) high, offset vertically. The cabinets would have glass doors for "display." You could even place some decorative items on top of these cabinets. With the 12 full-extension drawers and the four cabinets, there is already plenty of storage space.
