Hello dear readers,

A brief background: The windows were installed poorly. A correction was made, but it was also flawed. The developer went bankrupt. There is no warranty coverage. We now have to fix the work ourselves...

The problem is that beneath and beside the floor-to-ceiling elements, there were these sealing flaps (that’s what I’ll call them) which were supposed to be glued onto the plastic beneath the window to prevent moisture from entering on the sides. Unfortunately, these were cut off. The correction consisted of simply gluing new flaps in that spot (see photo), although it’s doubtful they would effectively block moisture. Therefore, I reluctantly chiseled out the brickwork on the side to allow proper sealing here... this obviously affects the side sealing, but there is also no moisture protection from underneath so far.

The question now is how to properly and permanently fix this situation—not just a temporary patch!

Could someone please advise on what the correct measures would be here?

Best regards
Ralf
