Shadowblues15 Sep 2014 15:27Hello,
I have a concrete basement next to the house. It is thermally separated from the house by an Isokorb (6 x 3 meters (20 x 10 feet), a carport is planned on top).
I have two questions regarding this:
1. The basement ceiling is uneven and especially has no slope. After every rain, several puddles form on it, and some water also gets into the house (unevenness approx. 7mm (0.3 inches)). I have read that standing water is not good for the bitumen membrane. My architect says it’s not a problem as long as everything is sealed with bitumen first and paving stones are placed on top.
What is your opinion? Should I create a slope here? (Self-leveling screed?)
2. At the end of the week, we plan to waterproof the basement. The roofer will supply the materials, and I will apply them myself following instructions (my father-in-law will help, he has done this several times). However, I am unsure how to install the bitumen membrane on the Isokorb. Won’t the insulation melt if I bring a hot flame close to it?
Do you have any tips for this?
Best regards,
Roger
